Second Quarter Report, 2007:

The Louisiana Legislative has recently started its session.  Currently business is related to budgets.  Results are slow due to issues between the Democrat and Republican members.  (It has not been helpful to have a Governor who will not run in the next election and many candidates who are now campaigning)

No bills have been discussed regarding Coast Guard interest.  (Generally, legislators would like to see the Current Homeland Security Program be redesigned)

The State’s main focus is in rebuilding following Katrina and preparation for the Hurricane season.  I have contacted the LA Wildlife representatives; they had nothing to report.

LA Coast Guard Auxiliary are educating the public through public classes and public announcements regarding boating safety and BWI.
