Fourth Quarter Report, 2007:

No new legislation introduced this quarter.

Anticipated legislation in 2008 includes the possibility of a joint resolution to provide Coast Guard Auxiliarists with an income tax deduction; and a formal boating education bill.  NC General Statutes require in order to operate a PWC, anyone between the age of 14 and 16 years of age complete a NASBLA approved Boating Education Course and carry a certification card and proof of age.  More encompassing boating education legislation is being considered for 2008.

Third Quarter Report, 2007:

Legislation granting a $250 tax deduction for fire fighters and rescue squad members has passed.  They are requesting an Attorney General opinion to determine if this deduction applies to Auxiliary members.
