First Quarter Report, 2008:
The Washington Legislation session is almost over for this year (of 2008) No new boating legislation to report this quarter.

Washington State Legislature has not been in session since March 2007, and will not convene until January 2008.
Third Quarter Report, 2007:
The Washington State Department of Ecology issued a news release stating that it has commenced expedited rulemakings regarding its Spill Rules. One rulemaking is intended to repeal the old oil spill prevention and preparedness rules that were replaced in October 2006. The second rulemaking is intended to update a variety of spill regulations. Among the changes would be to increase from $50 to $100 the per gallon ceiling amount that the state could assess for natural resource damages and an expansion in the definition of “oil” to include all oils, rather than being limited to petroleum-based oils. Comments on the proposals must be submitted by November 5.
Second Quarter Report, 2007:
No boating-related legislative activity reported this quarter.
First Quarter Report, 2007: The first phase of a law passed in 2005 is going into effect this year, requiring those 20 years old or under to have a boating education card in order to operate a boat.
